Inspired Eating: My Daily Bread Tumblr

By

When I tell people I can't eat gluten, I often get reactions ranging from confusion to pity. In a food culture so invested in gluten-based meals, it's hard to imagine doing without.

Now imagine if you just found out that you can't eat gluten anymore. Imagine how lonely, confusing, and scary that might be. I remember that feeling.

Now, 4+ years later, I feel so lucky to get this wake up call. Learning what was causing my chronic pain and sickness helped me become healthier, but it also helped me explore my food more. I started talking to farmers and restaurant wait-staff, asking how my food was grown and prepared. I stopped eating unhealthy processed foods, and suddenly I could taste the flavor of ingredients. And I started cooking.

I still run into people who have a newly-diagnosed food intolerance who feel lost. I always want to share all the food I can eat, as a way to show others that life and good food doesn't cease to exist after a diagnosis.

On that note, I'm starting a tumblr blog to showcase the meals I eat. Entitled "My Daily Bread" (ha!), this blog will be a place to post my food photos. The photos I post may be of something I make myself or something a restaurant prepares, but I hope it shows how excited I am to eat. Even without gluten.

I'll keep writing for this blog, but now I have somewhere to post all these food photos I can't seem to stop taking.
